A female journalist is interviewing Einar Benediktsson a famous old lawyer and a poet. As a young man he took on the case of a a servant girl who had killed her newborn baby. During the investigation the woman Sólborg dies in Einars arms. She has been poisoned and from then on follows him as a ghost.
