This new play that María Ellingsen got the idea to make and teamed up with Kevin Kuhlke who wrote the text and Snorri Freyr Hilmarsson who did the research with her was shown at The student theater of NYU and was well received. Earlier they had had a staged reading of it at the City Theater of Reykjavík.
It is based on the true stories of three women poets in the early 19th century. They all get their hearts broken but react to it in very different way’s. One dies of grief, one kills her untrue lover and the third survives stronger than before.
The play is still being developed for it’s Iceland premier but in this version the three women carry the piece telling the story of their journey through grief.
